Airsoft sniper rifles are ultra-realistic toy guns that can give any Airsoft player a sense of what it’s like to be a real soldier. However, due to the various designs and models of an Airsoft gun, especially when you’re talking about sniper rifle replicas, one can easily get confused on how to choose a gun that’d be just right. If you want to know which kind of Airsoft sniper rifle to buy, then this article will function as a guide to the pros and cons of buying these Airsoft weapons. For convenience’s sake, the focus will be on 2 types; the gas-powered and the spring-powered rifle.
Price
Aside from the fact that a gas-powered rifle and a spring-powered one have differing technologies, a big difference between them happens to be the price. Spring-powered rifles have the upper hand on this because they’re generally a lot cheaper than gas airsoft sniper rifles. The price range of gas-powered rifles is around $175. Some designs of these types are even doubled in price due to additional functions and features. The spring-powered ones tend to range around $100 to $125 depending on the quality.
Velocity
When it comes to velocity, the gas-powered sniper rifles generally do better than the spring-powered ones. Gas-powered guns basically shoot for more than 500 fps (feet per second). Some gas-powered designs have speeds of 550 fps and sometimes more. However, some high quality spring-powered rifles can shoot at around 450 fps. Other high-end spring-powered designs can even shoot at nearly 500 fps.
Rate of Fire
All spring-powered rifles are made to fire with single-shots only. This means that you’d have to cock it every time you want to shoot. Some gas-powered airsoft sniper rifles are semi-automatic, but these tend to be a lot pricier. Most gas sniper rifles are still available as single shots too (which makes it more realistic), so that makes only a bit of a difference. However, it’s important to note that gas-powered rifles are basically easier to cock the trigger than the spring-powered rifles. This makes it a huge bonus during CQB (Close Quarters Battle) games wherein there’s very little time to reload or cock the trigger. On the other hand, sniper rifles aren’t really advisable during CQBs.
Accuracy
There’s still a minor debate going on between people who think that accuracy of both spring-powered and gas-powered rifles are pretty much the same. There’s really no sufficient evidence as to which one of these gun types are superior. However, if you put into account the fact that airsoft sniper rifles with scopes installed on them are supposed to be shot at long distance ranges, then you can safely say that the gas-powered ones are basically more accurate in terms of range. Although, you’d have to take into consideration the fact that if you’re using gas sniper rifles, you’re going to need to use slightly heavier Airsoft pellets (also called BBs). In short, you need heavier pellets in order to achieve maximum accuracy.
So what’s the final determination then? Well, as with most everything else concerning games like battle simulations, that all depends on how you play your game. Meaning, if you want a sniper rifle that’s affordable and still does the job pretty well, then you’d want to go with a spring-powered one. But if you want your gun to excel at performance, then you should go with gas-powered airsoft sniper rifles that are a bit more expensive. As usual though, the decision is basically yours.

There are many airsoft sniper rifles out on the market these days that it’d probably take you weeks just to settle on which one you think would be the best product to buy. It’s understandable really, because every time you think that you’ve finally found the one, doubt creeps in as you read hater comments on that sniper rifle you were just about to go for. Of course, some of those comments could be true, you know. So if you’re asking yourself what are the best sniper rifles out there, read on.
The Powerful UTG L96
The first thing to be mentioned should of course be the most popular one. In forums and Airsoft sites, the UTG L96 happens to be the most mentioned and not just because it looks absolutely cool and flashy. Granted, airsoft sniper rifles with scopes (and other features) that look awesome don’t really mean that they’re better in terms of performance over any other rifle. However, the L96 scores high in both counts. That means that it looks cool (which therefore makes you look cooler too) and it’s also a good all-around sniper rifle. It has a high fps velocity with great accuracy when dialed in. It’s a good rifle for first-time snipers. For veterans, it’s also quite excellent since it’s fully upgradeable as well. It’s no wonder that this Airsoft gun sells a lot more on the internet than most other sniper rifles.
Jing Gong Bar10
Lots of people would agree that the Jing Gong BAR10 is far superior to the L96. That’s because it probably is, due to a number of technical and yet important reasons. First off, it’s generally cheaper. Airsoft sniper rifles are priced at an average of 200 dollars, but you can buy the JG BAR10 for as low as $100 to $120. Second, it’s very easy to upgrade than most other rifles out there. This happens to be a perk amongst veteran Airsoft players. Upgradeability and modifiability is where it’s at. Thirdly, it’s small and light enough. You can really sneak up on a lot of people with this thing because you won’t be making much noise with it. Besides, being a sniper means that you need to be stealthy, quick, and quiet anyway so that’s a huge plus for you. There’re more reasons, but those would take forever to explain.
The Awesome – Echo 1m14ebr
The Echo M14 EBR RIS is definitely a damn good airsoft rifle. Nobody can deny how powerful this beauty is. Although it’s not cheap, it’s not expensive either. It sits comfortably within the range of $190 to $220. The distance is very good compared to most other sniper rifles. It’s basically on a par with the L96 and the BAR10 except for the fact that it’s a lot more pricy. The Echo 1 M14 EBR AEG is certainly affordable as well as having the reputation to make you look like a real bad boy. However, it doesn’t stop there. Technically, it’s more of a battle rifle than a sniper one. Putting a scope on it makes up for the difference though. It has good Fps stock as well as having an excellent range of up to 150 feet. Not many Airsoft weapons can boast that.
Airsoft sniper rifles are certainly the best when it comes to stealth tactics. There are many more good designs out there, but these ones happen to be the best.

A lot of airsoft sniper rifles are just too damn expensive to buy. What’s more, some of the rifles that companies make are just not worth the price to pay, especially when you think about how other less expensive ones tend to outperform the pricier sniper rifles. It just isn’t fair. Of course, there are really good expensive sniper rifles that can blow your mind; but what if you’re on a budget and you only want to get a feel for what it’s like to be a real sniper? Well don’t worry; this article will help you to find a good quality rifle that’d fit your budget.
Where to Look
First of all, buying an Airsoft sniper rifle doesn’t have to be a headache. The reason why you’re confused is probably because you don’t know where to look for cheap, yet good quality airsoft rifles. The best place to be informed as well as to get a bargain is in online forums. Don’t blindly trust those websites that offer cheap sniper rifles. You have to make sure that they’re for real first. Read their terms and conditions and print it all out if you need to. It’s always a good idea to call the website’s number up so you can personally ask your questions about the sniper rifle. Shipping and handling conditions should always be taken into consideration, so tread carefully with that too. Another way you can get good bargains is to go to craigslist.com and click a place near you, or you could go to eBay and do the same thing.
They’re Mostly High-Quality
Most of the manufactured airsoft sniper rifles are actually very high-quality. Yes, you read that one correctly. You don’t really have to worry about getting a bad gun because even the cheaper ones are still awesome. There’s like a 10 to one chance that you’re going to get a sniper rifle that doesn’t do its job well. The reason for this is because of the materials that are used. An Airsoft sniper rifle usually won’t fire well if it’s not made of high-grade quality parts. Another reason happens to be because of how it’s made. What that means is that if there’s even a little mistake in the manufacturing process, it won’t fire at all (some even break apart) and it’ll just get dumped right back into the factory.
Cost
The average Airsoft sniper rifle sits around the neighborhood price of $200 or so depending on the model. The ones that sit around this $200 range are usually the gas-powered rifles; but you can get a lot of gas airsoft sniper rifles for as low as $100. However, if you want more out of your sniper rifle, then you’d best go with AEGs. These tend to cost more, but some can be purchased for nearly $150. On the other hand, you could always go for spring-powered ones. They’re very cheap (like $70-$150) and yet they can sometimes outperform other gas and AEG models. If you’re really on a low budget, then it’s recommended that you go with spring-powered sniper rifles.
No matter how much you look at it, each type of rifle will still have some weakness in it. There’s no way around it, so it’s best that you take things slow and only buy what you need. Airsoft maybe just a game, but it can be a damned expensive one if you don’t know how to choose airsoft sniper rifles that are just right for you.
